Q & A

Q: Why did you choose to become a writer?
A: After reciting poems in front of strangers and writing poetry and short stories as a child, I’ve spent many years away from literature, until it eventually caught up with me. I guess it has always been in my blood, somehow, since my grandfather was an exquisite storyteller and one of my uncles was a well-known writer in my home country.
Q: Is Anna your real name or are you writing under a pen name?
A: I’ve decided to write under a pen name, because I believe modesty is an important human value, although too underrated nowadays. So, even if "Anna Pawel" were to become a known writer brand someday, the fact that my family and friends will keep calling me by my non-famous real name will help me bear in mind that I’m nothing more than a regular person – a tiny little bit of a vast universe.
Q: Why did you choose Anna Pawel as a pen name – does it have any special meaning to you?
A: Yes, it does, but I’ll let this mystery hang around for some time.
Q: Why do you write in English rather than in your native language?
A: Even if I’m choosing particular locations for my stories, they aren’t really country-specific. They are born into this world so that anyone can read them. Therefore, I write them in a language which is easily accessible.
Q: How do you ensure the quality of your work?
A: I study extensively. I work with experienced editors and professional beta readers. I revise, revise, revise…
Q: How would you like to publish your books?
A: I want to have my books traditionally published.
